where the long shadows fall

so i loaned out calling for vanished faces to a friend a couple of weekends ago as a crash-course intro to things dark and tibetan. he sends this account of his reactions:

"c93 … are a different bag of protoplasm altogether. listening to them is kinda like getting a general anaesthetic - y'know when the doctor says 'count backwards from 100' and you're thinking 'yeah, right, nothing's happening. 100, 99, 98, 9 <oblivion>' and you wake up half a day later, broke, sticky and confused. i was on the ladder this morning, working on the walls in the living room, listening to c93 for the first time, and my last conscious thought was 'where the fuck is this going? sounds like an extended mix of a 90's horror flick soundtrack!' sometime later, [my wife] came in the room and made noises at me, at which point my awareness slammed back into my skull at about 700 mph, causing my body to break into some kind of gaelic courtship dance on ladder-top …"

aus der reihe "mitglieder der c93-mailingliste berichten von ihrem musikalischen erstkontakt mit current 93". wer auch mal hören möchte: hier, beispielsweise.
